1900 NORTHWEST TERRITORIES – DISTRICT OF ASSINIBOIA

(July 2)  The North-West Mounted Police downed Regina 14 to 8 as part of Dominion Day celebrations in Regina.

(August 8)  The Regina Agricultural Association hosted a baseball tournament Wednesday and Thursday. Three teams were in the running for a top prize of $150. Virden drew the bye.  In the opening game, Regina exploded for six runs in the third inning, thanks to Mountie errors, and held on to top the North-West Mounted Police 8-6. Bob McCartney of Buffalo Lake and Walter Simington of Moose Jaw formed the battery for the winners, the same battery which won the Territorial pennant for Moose Jaw in 1895. The pair have played little ball since and considering their lack of practice, the Wednesday result was noted in the paper as "phenomenal".
