1906 Alberta Snapshots

On January 27th in 1906, Lethbridge hosted a baseball game between the locals and Calgary. It was a promotional stunt to advertise the mild winters in Southern Alberta. More than 800 people attended the game, some in their short sleeves. This is the Lethbridge club. The temperature was 53° F.

Lethbridge won quite handily, crushing Calgary 13-1.

They had a return match in Calgary on February 1st. Lethbridge again showed it's strength winning 9-2. "The weather was perfect. There was a gentle breeze from the mountains and a few clouds kept the day from being uncomfortably warm." (Calgary Herald, February 2, 1906)
