(June 17)  Fred Barnstead had a no-hitter as Calgary topped Moose Jaw 2-0. Only two batters reached base, both on free passes. Barnstead had just one strikeout.  Calgary broke a scoreless tie with both of its runs in the 7th inning. Wheeler reached second as Smith in left field dropped his fly ball and advanced to third on a fielder's choice. Donovan knocked in Wheeler and came around to scored on a hit by Connors. Gilchrist allowed just four hits in taking the loss.

(July 13)  Pearl Cierzan allowed just a 5th inning single to mar his bid for a no-hitter as Winnipeg blanked Brandon 3-0.  Angels' shortstop Miller poked one into right field in the 5th inning for Brandon's only hit. The Maroons had just four hits, two by Jack Beatty. Charlie Earl was the hard-luck loser.

Moose Jaw catcher Steel died this afternoon in hospital.  The body is to be shipped to St. Louis, Mo. for burial.  Steel was out of the lineup for about a month, suffering from Bright's disease.  A week ago, local physicians pronounced his case hopeless. The game, scheduled tonight between Moose Jaw and Brandon has been postponed. Steel was very popular in the city and the whole league.

In its July 31st edition, The Sporting Life carried a summary of Western Canada League activities and, among other things, noted :

Calgary had signed infielder Machin.

The league had signed umpire Shuster.

McMahon, formerly of Winnipeg, had signed with Regina.

Clarence Currie, while continuing to lose games, had performed splendidly.

Grogan and Krueger of Winnipeg were thought to be the fastest pair around second.

Barnstead of Calgary held Moose Jaw without a hit. Only two batters reached first, both via free passes.

"Lefty" Hinrichs of Brandon drew raves for his "phenomenal box work". "This boy is ready for plucking."

Roxy Walters was reported to be the pick of the league's infielders and "easily the most popular player in the league".

Winnipeg signed pitcher John Collins, a collegian. He notched a 1-0 win in his first start.

(Aug. 25)  Phil Lezie fired a no-hitter to delight the hometown fans as Lethbridge topped Moose Jaw 7-0 in the Miners' final home game of the season. The left-hander fanned eight and walked three in the 8-inning contest, called because of darkness.

The best chance for the Robin Hoods came with one out in the 3rd inning as Lezie walked Smith and, after catcher Joe Lynch had made a fine catch on Paddy Welsh's high pop, Harold O'Hayer drew a free pass. However, Townsend gathered in Anthony's hard drive and the threat ended.

The Miners broke open a scoreless game with a five-run outburst in the 6th frame as Lezie led off with a walk. After Joe Corrigan had singled, Chesty Cox drove in the first two runs with a double past second base and advanced to third on the throw.  Jack Corrigan belted one of his three hits to score Cox. McGarry followed with a safety and Lynch knocked in another pair with his second hit. Miners added two runs in the 8th as Ralph Bell hit safely and Townsend reached on a error and both came home on Fred Chick's hit.
