WESTERN CANADA BASEBALL
Medicine Hat catcher Elwyn Barth, just 17 years of age, has been crowned batting king of the 1914 Western Canada Baseball League. Barth compiled a .367 average in 80 games to top Edmonton's Foot Ruell. Ken Williams of Edmonton, who finished in the top ten with a .315 mark, took the home run title, with 12. William Daniels of Medicine Hat scored the most runs, 91, and led in thefts, with 46 stolen bases.
Lefty Jess Buckles of the Mad Hatters led in just about all the pitching categories including wins, 25, games, 44, innings pitched, 331 and strikeouts, 196. Sam Beer of Saskatoon finished with the best won-lost record, 23-7 for a .767 percentage.

Jimmy Riley infielder for the Calgary Athletics edged out Frank Lewis of the Hustlers, .403 to .396 for the 1914 batting title in the Calgary Amateur League. One more hit for Lewis or one less for Riley would have given Lewis the crown. E.Mahoney of the KCs was a close third at .395. Riley led the circuit in hits, with 25. Chess Johnston of the Athletics was the leader in stolen bases, with 14. Mills of the Hustlers scored the most runs, 18.
