(June 22) An exhibition between
two American Negro squads drew a crowd of more than 3,000 at
Osborne Stadium, the largest of the season. San Francisco
Sea Lions downed the Birmingham All-Stars 5-2. The feature of
the night was the between innings display by Sammy Workman.
Without hands or feet, Workman put on a catcher's mitt and
caught the slants of Lion starter Scoggins. He also
took a turn at bat and ran the base paths. While there
were 11 errors in the game, played in adverse conditions,
Luther Branham was a standout performer with three
nice catchers at second base for the Sea Lions. San Francisco

Greys and Cardinals tangled at the southern town last week with
the colored club gaining a 7-4 win. Thomas has in his lineup
Travis Taylor and Raymond Woosley,
both teammates of his with Ligons last season.
