Above Left - The Albert Lea Sunday Tribune provided strong coverage of the local club.  In a late May snippet, the paper noted the addition to the 1954 team of Dick Jok, a teammate of Mike Sichko last year at Williamsport of the Eastern League.  Jok's release from New Ulm, where he hit .350 last season, came through Friday, clearing him for the Packer's 1954 opener.

Above Right - Hugh Orphan as the playing manager of the Winona Chiefs for a fourth season. Orphan was selected as an All-Star hurler in 1953. Mid-way through the '54 season, with the Chiefs in last place, winners of just seven of 22 games, Orphan was fired.
