(June 4)  Saskatoon Gems downed the new Rosetown club 8-3 for their second straight exhibition win of the season.  The game was halted after seven innings because of darkness.  Charlie Beene picked up the win in relief of starter Lew HobsonJim Stevens handled the final inning.  They held Rosetown to four hits. Len Breckner paced the offense with three hits. Gary Anderson went the distance for Rosetown.  Others in the lineup were Chuck Holdaway, Reg Pendleton, Don Snyder, Gary Franklin and Merle Byrnes.   

Six player from St. Louis University -- Terry Goewert, Dave Sanders, John McCartney, William Schall, Jerry Birk and John Willie arrived in Saskatoon Tuesday to join the Gems.

(June 7)   Second baseman John McCartney hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to hand Saskatoon a 7-6 victory over North Battleford in the opening game of the 1957 Western Canada Baseball League.  It was McCartney's second homer of the game. Cliff Pemberton had a four-bagger for the Gems.

(June 8)  Leon Wilson had three homers but North  Battleford dropped a 12-6 decision to Saskatoon.  John McCartney, his third, and Harold Key belted homers for the Gems who had thirteen hits off four Beaver hurlers.  Frank Anderson went the distance for Saskatoon fanning fourteen.

(June 9)  Saskatoon beat North Battleford for the third straight day, scoring in the top of the ninth to shade the Beavers 5-4.  Cliff Pemberton homered for the Gems, Leon Wilson hit his fourth for the Beavers, and Art Stone hit his first of the season.

(June 9)  Ron Fairly belted a three-run homer in his first game with Edmonton as the Eskimos whipped the Meridians 9-1 in the season opener at Lloydminster.  16-hundred fans took in the action at Sportsmen's Park.  Eskimos wrapped it up in the second inning scoring four times on three walks, a hit batsman and two errors.  Shortstop Mike Castanon had three hits for Edmonton.  Modie Risher, Ed Tanner and Tom Roberts each had two hits for the Meridians.  Risher had to leave in the eighth when he split a finger on a fielding play.

(June 10)  Lefty Lew Hobson shutout the Meridians after the first inning to lead the Gems to an 8-2 win at Cairns Field.   Lloydminster jumped into a 2-0 lead in the opening  frame on back-to-back singles by Benny Lott and Tom McGhee, a double by Curly Williams and a sacrifice fly by Ed Tanner.  Saskatoon tied it in their half of the first.  Len Breckner singled in Cliff Pemberton and Terry Goewert scored on an error.  Two Lloydminster errors in the fourth allowed the Gems to take the lead.   Hobson went seven innings in near-freezing temperatures to get the win.

(June 10) Ron Fairly blasted two homers and Wayne Tucker added one as Edmonton held on to shade North Battleford 8-7.  Eskimos had blown a 7-0 lead.  Beavers made it close with four in the sixth inning and a three-run rally in the ninth.  Leon Wilson's fifth homer of the season brought the Beavers to within one run, but Tom Garcia struck out to end the threat.  it was North Battleford's fourth straight loss.

(June 11)  Lloydminster got just two hits but took advantage of ten walks, four errors and a passed ball in downing the Braves 6-3 in Regina.  Meridians scored three in the second inning on a wild pitch, a passed ball and a infield error.  They added another run in the fifth as Benny Lott singled in Howard MorgansternJim Hansen got the win in relief of starter Marty Stillman.

(June 11)  Moose Jaw won its home opener, 6-0 over the previously undefeated Saskatoon Gems. Ron Wiley went the distance allowing just seven hits.  He fanned eleven.

(June 12)   Moose Jaw and the Meridians battled to a 2-2 draw in a game called after nine by darkness.  John Kating gave Moose Jaw the lead with a second inning homer. Lloydminster tied it in the third as Curly Williams' single scored Frank Barnes.  Kating singled home Tom Haller in the bottom of the third for the Mallards and the Meridians got their second run  in the sixth when Benny Lott singled, stole second and scored on Ed Tanner's double.  Mallards' Larry Miller gave up six hits and fanned eleven.  Ted Berner, on the hill for the Meridians, allowed eights hits.

(June 12)  In a wild affair at Renfrew Park, there were 21 runs, 24 hits, 10 errors, 10 innings, a beaning, a broken ankle, player ejections, and, the cops.  In the end the Beavers prevailed, 12-9.  Beavers' Johnny Ford was arrested after a sixth inning fracas.  Emile Francis, the North Battleford manager, was ejected under police escort.  He had protested a called strike by umpire Roland Natter.  Two Edmonton players -- Bob Gerst and Don Stewart were injured and lost for the season.

(June 13)  Larry Elliott, Wayne Tucker and Tom Shollin hit homers and Conrad Munatones had four hits as Edmonton trounced North Battleford 11-2.

(June 14)  Edmonton had fifteen hits in a 16-6 triumph over North Battleford.  Ron Fairly poked two homers and Larry Elliott and Conrad Munatones each had one.  Munatones put the Eskimos on the board in the top of the first with a grand slam.  Dale Zeigler allowed just three hits.

(June 14)  Regina scored two in the seventh to beat Saskatoon 4-3.  Regina's Larry Yogi and the Gems' John McCartney each had three hits.

(June 15)   The Gems and the Braves split a pair at Prince Albert.  Cuban southpaw Luis Fouste pitched four scoreless innings in relief as Regina won the opener 5-2.  In the second game, Darrell Read held the Braves to four hits as the Gems pounded out thirteen hits in a 9-1 victory.

(June 15)  Edmonton scored two in the eighth to down North Battleford 4-3.  Steve Evans went the distance on the hill for the Eskimos to gain the win.

(June 15)   It was triple-header time in Moose Jaw.  The Meridians walked away with two wins, one on a forfeit as the Mallards refused to stop a seventh inning protest. 

Tom Roberts' homer sparked the Meridians to a four-run second inning and Lloydminster went on to hand Moose Jaw its first loss of the season, 5-3.  Curly Williams had three hits for the winners.  Bob Henry, with relief help from Bob Lehow picked up the win.  It was a makeup game for Friday's scheduled contest which was rained out.

In the second game of the day, the completion of Wednesday's 2-2 tie, Ron Wiley's 12th inning double plated Floyd Temple with the winning run in the 3-2 decision.  Larry Miller went all the way for the win.

The Meridians were leading the third game 4-1 in the seventh when awarded the contest.  Jim Hansen picked up the win on a six-hitter.  Tom McGhee and Curly Williams each had a double and single for the Meridians.

(June 16)  Saskatoon scored three in the tenth inning for a 9-7 win over the Meridians at Lloydminster.  Jim Stevens, who went all the way for the Gems, struck out Tom McGhee with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the tenth to preserve the victory. Jerry Birk led Saskatoon with three hits.  Tom Roberts and Roberto Zayas each had three for the Meridians.

(June 16)  A single by manager Suge Carter in the bottom of the 13th inning sent Ike Jackson home with the winning run as Regina beat North Battleford 7-6 in a game played at Rosetown.  Jackson had tripled. Tommy Rinks had four hits for the Braves.

(June 17) Marty Stillman tossed a four-hitter to lead the Meridians past North Battleford 7-3.  Lloydminster had 13 hits, including home runs from Tom McGhee and Modie Risher. McGhee and Ted Berner each had three hits. Leon Wilson had a homer for the Beavers.

(June 17)  Edmonton won its sixth game in seven starts unleashing a seventeen hit attack to trounce Saskatoon 18-6 before 23-hunded fans at Renfrew Park.  Larry Elliott had two triples and two singles for the Eskimos.  Blaine Sylvester went the distance for the win.

(June 17)  Regina broke loose for five runs in the first inning and went on to down Moose Jaw 7-3. Ike Jackson led the Braves with three hits. Ernie Rodriguez had a triple, double and single for the Mallards.

(June 18)  North Battleford and Lloydminster fought to a 3-3 in a game called at the end of nine by darkness.  Beavers took a 3-2 lead in the seventh on a walk, two errors and a single.  Meridians tied it in the bottom of the inning when Modie Risher's single scored Benny Lott

(June 18)  Ralph Vold threw a nine-hit shutout as Edmonton beat Saskatoon 3-0.  Ken Guffey led the Eskimo offense with three hits.  Dan Jackson had three hits for the Gems.

(June 18)  Moose Jaw scored three in the bottom of the fifth to beat Regina 4-2 in a game called after five by darkness.

(June 19)  Frank Slusser allowed just four hits as North Battleford defeated the Meridians 6-1 at Abbot Field.  All the scoring came in the second inning.  Tom Roberts gave Lloydminster the lead, belting a triple and scoring on an error. Beavers got it back in a hurry.  Johnny Ford, North Battleford's first batter in the bottom of the inning, slammed a homer.  Curtis Tate capped the inning with the three-run homer.  Ford led the Beavers with three hits.

(June 19) Tom Haller drove in four runs, scored twice and stole two bases in leading Moose Jaw to a 10-7 victory over Regina. Haller had a homer, double and two singles. Ernie Rodriguez also had four hits for the Mallards while Ike Jackson led the Braves with a triple, double and two singles.  Mallards lost Ron Wiley for the season when he received notice of his callup to the military.

(June 20)  John McCartney's three-run double in the final inning was the key as Saskatoon came back to beat Lloydminster 8-5.  It was McCartney's third hit of the game.  The blast broke a 5-5 tie.  Meridians' Curly Williams had the only homer.  Gems capitalized on five Lloydminster errors.

(June 21)  Southpaw Dale Zeigler shutout the Meridians 3-0.  Tom Shollin provided all the offense the Eskimos would need with an eighth inning homer. Outstanding defensive play from right fielder Larry Elliott was key to the victory.  Elliott threw out runners at third and home in the second inning.

(June 21) Dan Jackson's solo homer in the bottom of the eighth proved to be the difference as Saskatoon edged Moose Jaw 6-5.

(June 21) Regina handed North Battleford its 10th loss in 12 games as they outscored the Beavers 5-4.

(June 22)  Edmonton ran its winning streak to eight games with a double-header sweep over the Meridians, 4-1 and 9-3.  In the opener, Steve Evans and Ralph Vold held the Meridians to six hits and Larry Elliott provided the offense with a double and a homer.  Tom Roberts had three hits for Lloydminster and Curly Williams contributed a pair.  Centre fielder Ron Fairly was a star both on offense and defense as the Eskimos took the second game 9-3.  He made a spectacular catch on a sinking liner off the bat of Modie Risher in the fourth and blasted a triple in the bottom of the inning which sparked a six-run uprising by the Esks. Fairly, Tom Shollin, Ed Sada and Elliott each had two hits for Edmonton.  Dave Moriarty had three safeties for the Meridians.

(June 22) Len Breckner belted a homer in the bottom of the ninth to break up a pitchers' duel and give Saskatoon a 3-2 win over Regina. It was just the third hit off Braves' pitcher Bill VanderlaanJim Stevens pitched a five-hitter for the win.

(June 22) In Moose Jaw, Bennie Griggs and Frank Slusser held the Mallards to just two hits, but both were homers by Tom Haller off Griggs and the Mallards came away with a 4-2 victory.  Haller had a solo homer in the fourth and blasted a three-run shot in the eighth. Bob Herron had a homer for the Beavers.

(June 23)   Down 3-0 before they came to bat, Lloydminster pushed across four in the bottom of the first inning and held on to beat the league-leading Eskimos 7-4 and stop Edmonton's winning streak at eight games. Ed Stefureak's homer scored Dave Moriarty and Roberto Zayas and Tom McGhee's double plated Curly Williams.  Meridians scored again in the second and added a pair in the third inning. Jim Hansen allowed just four hits in 8 1/3 relief innings to pick up the win.

(June 23)  Moose Jaw exploded for ten runs in the third inning and went on to whip Regina 12-7 in the first game of a double-header.  John Kating of the Mallards and Regina's Bobby Cesar had homers.  Braves bounced back to take the nightcap 15-8 getting a pair of homers by Lee Murphy.

(June 23) Tom Garcia pitched an eight-hitter to lead North Battleford to a 6-2 win over Saskatoon.  The Beavers' five-run seventh featured a lead-off triple by Curtis Tate and a two-run homer by Bob Herron.

(June 24)  Ed Stefureak's two-run homer in the eighth inning sparked the Meridians to a 6-4 win over Edmonton.  Eskimos had a 4-3 lead when Ralph Vold walked Dave Moriarty to lead off the inning.  Stefureak, who had doubled in the sixth, followed with a blast over the left field wall.  Roberto Zayas had two hits, including a triple, for Lloydminster.  Tom Shollin cracked out a pair of doubles and a single for Edmonton.  Ted Berner picked up the win, scattering 12 hits.  He struck out nine and didn't issue a single base on balls.

(June 24)  Len Tucker and Sherwood Brewer homered as Saskatoon beat Moose Jaw 6-3. Floyd Temple had a homer for the Mallards.

(June 24)  Shortstop Mark Bussan's three-run homer in the ninth gave North Battleford a 7-4 win over Regina.

(June 25)   Edmonton exploded for 17 hits and trounced the Meridians 14-0 at Renfrew Park.  Ron Fairly led the Eskimos' attack with a homer, triple and a single good for four runs batted in.  He also scored three times.  Ken Guffey, Ed Sada and Con Munatones added three hits apiece and Tom Shollin had a homer.  Dale Zeigler pitched a brilliant three-hitter in extending his scoreless streak to 20 innings..  He fanned 10.

(June 25)  An eight-run seventh inning powered Moose Jaw to a 15-5 victory over North Battleford.  Mallards collected 15 hits including five homers.  Jim Hoppe had the big blow of the winners, a seventh inning grand slam. Tom Haller and Barry Robertson also belted four-baggers for the Mallards.  Johnny Ford and Bob Herron belted homers for the Beavers.

(June 25)  Dan Jackson's single scored Len Tucker in the bottom of the ninth as Saskatoon edged Regina 9-8.  Tucker had three hits, including a homer, to lead the Gems. Joe Kretschmar also had a homer for Saskatoon.

(June 26)   Regina scored three in the first and went on to trounced the Meridians 11-2. Ike Jackson had two doubles and a single for the Braves and Bobby Cesar had a pair of doubles.  Playing-manager Ed Tanner accounted for both the Meridian runs, driving in one in the second and belting a homer in the fourth.

(June 26)  At North Battleford, the Beavers and Moose Jaw hooked up in a slugfest which produced 20 hits, 21 runs, 7 errors, 7 home runs and a triple play.  Mallards won 11-10.  Loren Martin, Ernie Rodriguez and Tom Haller had homers for Moose Jaw and Curtis Tate, Bob Herron, Ken Nelson and Mark Bussan replied for the Beavers.

In the seventh. Leon Wilson and Johnny Ford drew walks to open the inning.  Bob Herron smacked one to short left field and the runners took off.  John Keating made a running catch, threw to shortstop Barry Robertson to double off Wilson, then threw to Martin at first to complete the triple play.

(June 27)  Cliff Pemberton had three hits and knocked in a pair as the Gems won, 7-3 over Lloydminster.  Meridians took the lead in the third on back-to-back doubles by Ed Stefureak and Tom Roberts and a single by Modie Risher.  But the Gems tied the score in the fourth on a double by John McCartney, a single by Len Breckner and a throwing error.  Meridians replied with a run in the fifth. Tom McGhee's triple scored Roberts.  Pemberton hit a two-run single in the bottom of the inning to put Saskatoon ahead to stay.  Lloydminster's Curly Williams made the fielding gem of the night, making a diving catch of Len Tucker's scorching liner in the eighth.  Charlie Beene was the winner with six innings of four-hit relief.

(June 27) Bill Vanderlaan scattered ten hits in a route-going performance as Regina beat Edmonton 4-1.  Ike Jackson had a triple and a pair of singles for the Braves while Art Shahzade drove in two runs.  Mike Castanon had three hits for the Eskimos.

(June 27) North Battleford scored three in the first inning and went on to capture a slugfest from Moose Jaw, 13-10.  Terry Goewert belted two homers for the Beavers and Curtis Tate chipped in with a triple, double and two singles.  Tom Haller had a homer and two singles for the Mallards.

(June 28)   Jim Stevens had a fifteen strikeout performance as Saskatoon laced the Meridians 17-7 at Cairns Field.  Stevens allowed eight hits and walked six.  Four Lloydminster hurlers gave up a total of eleven hits, 12 walks, and hit two batters. Sherwood Brewer had three hits for the Gems and Len Tucker drove in four while scoring four times.  Curly Williams had a homer, double and single for the Meridians and Tom McGhee chipped in with a four-bagger.

(June 28)  Edmonton bashed Regina pitching for 21 hits, including four homers, and walked away with a 16-3 victory in a game played at Calgary. Ralph Vold went the distance on the hill for the Eskimos giving up eleven hits and fanning twelve. Ron Fairly belted a pair of homers, his seventh and eighth of the season and Tom Shollin, the home run leader last year, hit his sixth. Larry Elliott had a homer and five runs batted in. Ike Jackson had a homer for the Braves.

(June 28)  Moose Jaw whipped North Battleford 11-7 in a game played at Swift Current before 12-hundred fans.

(June 29)   Saskatoon had 18 hits, four by Len Tucker and three triples by Cliff Pemberton in beating the Meridians 13-11.  Gems almost blew an eight-run lead as Lloydminster scored six times in the eighth to make it a close game. The game was called after eight by darkness.

(June 29)  Larry Miller and Ernie Nevers combined on a six-hitter as Moose Jaw edged North Battleford 2-1.

(June 30)  Meridians' pitchers gave up fourteen hits and the defense committed seven errors to hand Saskatoon a 16-7 win at Sportsman's Park. It was the Meridians seventh straight loss to the Gems. Len Breckner had three hits including a homer.  Jerry Birk led the Meridians, who had thirteen hits, with a homer, triple and single.,

(June 30)  Ron Fairly's tenth inning homer gave Edmonton a 4-3 win over Regina.  Eskimos scored in the bottom of the eighth and ninth to send the game into extra innings.  Braves' did stop Dale Zeigler's scoreless string at 23 innings with three runs in the fourth inning.  Art Shahzade led the Braves with three hits and Wayne Tucker had three for the Esks.

(June 30)  Leon Wilson had a homer and three singles to lead North Battleford to an 8-5 victory over Moose Jaw.  Tom Haller had a two-run blast for the Mallards.
