A brief shower forced postponement of a Man-Dak League encounter at
Municipal Park and also postponed the local debut of the Bismarck
Barons' new slugging second baseman, Clyde McNeal.
The second game of the series will feature Jackie Bowes, the Barons'
stylish little lefty going against either Frank McCollum of big John
Andre of the Minot Mallards.
McNeal, 26, drove 900 miles from San Antonio, Tex., and was in uniform
and due to open at the keystone spot.
Barons veteran Connie Juelke left for his managerial assignment at
Huron, S.D.
Besides McNeal, the Barons also are using Bob Ebker, a right-hander from
the University of Tulane, who was with the club for a time last season.

Concerned about poor attendance, Brandon Greys met Friday to discuss
ways to boost attendance. One member of the executive expressed
pessimism "we'd be better to forfeit out $1,000 bond with the league,
and drop out now, than to carry on with poor gates and wind up with a
$20,000 deficit in the fall." The executive decided to wait and
see what happens at the next few home games before making a move to
disband the club.
