On the left
field fence, in large letters, you'll notice the words Drewry's.
It was a thriving brewery in Regina during that era, bottling such
brands as Gold Seal and Western Bud.
Fred Petryna,
a member of the 1943 Regina Red Sox, (he joined the team a year after
his brother Steve) was employed at Drewry's until he
joined the Army. The firm was eventually taken over by Carlings
(who bottled Black Label). The brewery was located at the
north-east corner of Albert Street and 4th Avenue which is now the site
of the Carling Square mall.
