  Midale and Yellow Grass,  Saskatchewan, record the highest temperature ever in Canada, with a record high  of 45 °C (113 °F).
  
  George Selkirk of the New York  Yankees and Jeff Heath of the Cleveland Indians were the lone Canadian-born  players in the major leagues.
  
   Arnold & Quigley, runners-up during the  1937 regular league schedule, upended the pennant-winning Athletics four games  to two to annex the Vancouver Senior City League title. The Asahis, who began  the campaign as members of the aforementioned circuit but dropped out midway to  re-join the Vancouver Commercial League, were successful in taking the playoff  crown within the latter loop. 
  
  The Army & Navy Cardinals were the  class of the 1937 Edmonton Senior Baseball League.
  
  The Broadview Buffaloes, first-year entrants in  the competitive South Saskatchewan Baseball League, upgraded their roster with  a number of Negro imports and captured the 1937 league pennant but were denied  playoff status by the S.A.B.A. as one of their American imports had been  declared a professional the year previous. The Weyburn Beavers emerged as  playoff champions and went on to down the Saskatoon Maroons to cop the  provincial tiara. 
  
  The Greater Winnipeg Senior Baseball  finals featured the St. Boniface Native Sons and Transcona with the Saints  copping the 1937 title, their fourth in succession, by taking the Railroad  Towners into camp four games to three.
